Enable Unicode Encoding on your browser
churchspot.com uses Latha (Tamil Unicode) Font. If your browser does not display the tamil characters properly, go to the top menu and click View->Encoding(character Encoding)-> select Unicode(UTF-8) to view the characters properly.
If you still have problems, Tamil Font Microsoft’s Latha.ttf is a Tamil unicode font which gets installed automatically along with Windows XP and Windows Vista. You can find it in the ‘c:\windows\fonts’ folder of any XP / Vista installation. If you cannot find the font click here to Download latha.ttf .
Font Install
Windows XP
- Click start button and choose Control Panel
- Inside Control Panel doubles click on the Fonts icon
- A window of explorer opens with all the Fonts which are on your computer.
- Click on File menu, than in File drop down menu chooses “Install New Font…”, than define the relative way of the downloaded font and select the desired font, than finally to click on OK button
- Font is automatically created in the file of the Fonts.
Windows Vista
- Open Fonts by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking Fonts.
- Click File, and then click Install New Font.
- If you don’t see the File menu, press ALT.
- In the Add Fonts dialog box, under Drives, click the drive where the font that you want to install is located.
- Under Folders, double-click the folder containing the fonts that you want to add.
- Under List of fonts, click the font that you want to add, and then click Install.
Still, If Tamil in unicode is not seen properly at your end or recipient end, a setting as mentioned below should be activated.
Win XP:
- Click on “Start->Control Panel->(Date, Time, Language and Regional Options)->Regional and Language Options”
- Click on ‘Languages’ tab (nex to ‘Regional Options’) at the top
- In ‘suplemental language support’, tick the “Install files for Complex Script and right to left languages (including thai)” and install the required files.
- Windows XP CD may be required for the above process.
Firefox Browser
Firefox Browser: Firefox browsers doesn’t properly support Tamil unicode fonts. As a first option, you could enable unicode encoding on the browser to see if the characters appear properly. If you just see boxes instead of tamil characters, you could install an add-on named Adhiyan. Adhiyan is a tool to convert and view TSCII/TUNE encoded Tamil content to UNICODE Tamil. Adhiyan is a tool to convert and view TSCII/TUNE encoded Tamil content to UNICODE Tamil. Adhiyan is helpful to read TSCII/TUNE encoded websites and emails without installing the required fonts.
Prerequisite: Your computer should have at least one Tamil Unicode font.
Steps for usage:
- Install the Adhiyan extension and restart the Firefox.
- While browsing a TSCII website, press Alt + 2 for getting converted to UNICODE
- While browsing a TUNE website, press Alt + 3 for getting converted to UNICODE
- While browsing a website with Scrambled Unicode Tamil, press Alt + 4 for getting converted to readable UNICODE
- To switch off the conversion press Alt + 1 6. Use “Options” to configure Hot keys as per your wish.
